SERVICES

Travel + Health Support

*A note before we begin:

The services below draw on Kara's background and training as a physician to provide travel guidance for those navigating health-related considerations. These services are not medical services, and nothing here replaces the advice of your personal healthcare provider. Kara will always encourage you to consult your own doctor about medical questions.

HEALTH + TRAVEL PLANNING

When your health is part of the equation.

Don’t let health conditions hold you back from the travel you’ve dreamed of taking.

Whether you're navigating a chronic condition, dietary restrictions, a recent surgery, or mobility considerations, I bring two decades of medical experience to every detail of your journey. I build the trip around what actually works for your body, not around what you're 'supposed' to be able to do.

After a detailed intake, I research your trip with your health front of mind — including guidance on what to raise with your own doctor before you go — and hand off a guide made just for you, or carry it all the way through full trip planning if you'd like it booked and done.

Pricing is individualized based on scope.

REST + RESTORATIVE TRAVEL

For those ready to receive.

Some trips aren’t about sightseeing. Sometimes you’ve been through something — illness, treatment, loss, or a long stretch of hard — and what you need is a trip that asks nothing of you except to be present.

Restorative travel isn’t just for wellness retreats or spa packages. It’s a thoughtfully planned journey designed around your current capacity: somewhere you’ll feel nourished and quietly restored.

You don't need to know why you're burnt out, or what you want to do. That's not a prerequisite — it's the starting point.

We start with an in-depth intake — not just where you are physically, but emotionally: how you got here, and what this trip needs to give you to feel restored. From there, I match the destination, accommodation, pace, and experiences to what will genuinely nourish you, whether that's a slow week by the sea, an artist's village, or a mountain retreat with no agenda.

Pricing individualized based on scope.

“I could not have done my journey to Bolivia without Kara’s advice.

When my daughter and her family moved to La Paz, Bolivia, for her work, they wanted me to visit, but I was apprehensive of the altitude. La Paz sits at 11,000 feet, and one flies into El Alto which lies at 14,000 feet. I am a walker and hiker, but I am in my 70s, have a history of high blood pressure (for which I am on meds) and Meniere’s Syndrome that, while fortunately in remission, can trigger vertigo.

Kara worked with my daughter to develop an itinerary that would allow me to slowly ascend to La Paz from low-elevation safely. She offered me excellent practical advice on how I could prepare for and experience this journey without unnecessary stress, worry, or elevation sickness. It was a wonderful vacation with my family with no medical issues whatsoever, even though we were prepared with knowledge about how to proceed if I did.

I remember standing at sunrise with my grandchildren, at 15,000 feet in the glorious Andes, photographing llamas and thinking: There is no way I could have experienced this spectacular journey without Kara’s excellent guidance and encouragement.”

COMING SOON: MEDICAL TOURISM

For those seeking treatment abroad.

You might be considering an elective procedure or looking to access care that's more affordable, more available, or more affirming outside the US. I can help you understand your options.

I’ll research reputable destinations for your specific needs, understand what questions to ask and what to look for, and plan the practical logistics of your trip — including flights, accommodation, and recovery considerations.

How it works

  1. We start with a call to understand your procedure, priorities, and what matters most — affordability, availability, or affirming care.

  2. I research destinations and providers with strong reputations for your specific type of care, and flag what questions to ask and what to look for in reviews and accreditations.

  3. I plan the logistics around your procedure — flights, accommodation near your facility, and recovery-focused considerations.

  4. You'll receive a written guide covering the process, practical guidance (insurance, documentation, entry requirements), and how to think about your return home.

This service doesn't include vetting individual providers or guaranteeing medical outcomes. Pricing is individualized based on scope.
